| Flying Colors fabrics blend beautifully with prints, batiks and solids to create rich and complex quilts. The inclusion of these fabrics adds a dimension of subtle complexity to traditional patterns which can give them new life. The quilt at left titled New Beginnings - Expanding Friendships, was designed by Carolyn Abbott and made by members of the Pine Tree Patchworkers guild as their 2004 raffle quilt. It combines a rich blend of fabrics from Flying Colors and Cherrywood appliqued in a traditional eight pointed star.
It was awarded honorable mention in the AQS Show in Paducah, Kentucky in 2004. It was awarded first in category and the Mayor's Award at the Minnesota Quilters 2004 show in Rochester, Minnesota. Click on the pattern cover for a view of the completed queen size quilt. |

| Zzz-Time Rails is a quick and easy pattern that uses fat or skinny quarter yards of fabric. It is effective in a variey of fabrics, but has a particular richness when Flying Colors Transitions are included in the mix.

| Transitions Star is a strip-pieced lone star pattern that is made from a two yard piece of Flying Colors Transitions fabric. The pattern is the "little sister" to the award winning New Beginnings/Expanding Friendships quilt. It incorporates a floral quilting pattern based on the floral applique of the larger quilt. Full size tracing diagrams for the quilting pattern are included.
